Would it bring you comfort to feel closer to how your loved one is really doing?

How could meaningful updates that reflect everyday experiences bring reassurance, connection, and peace of mind?

Maine Bridge to Home is a heart-centered extension of Maine Sunshine Companions, created to support ongoing emotional connection between elders and the people who love them especially when distance makes regular presence difficult.

When a Sunshine Companion is visiting an elder regularly in their home, Maine Bridge to Home helps loved ones remain connected to the heart of the journey, even from afar.

With the elder’s explicit consent, companions offer gentle, compassionate communication to designated family members or friends, helping them stay emotionally in touch.

This program does not replace family connection. It helps strengthen it.

How does Maine Bridge to Home keep you updated?

We provide:

  • Thoughtful updates that reflect mood, engagement, and general wellbeing

  • A human presence that notices what can be missed through phone calls or texts

  • Reassurance that your loved one is not navigating this season alone

  • A sense of continuity and belonging for those who live at a distance

This is not clinical reporting.

It is relational awareness.

Updates are shared with care and respect, always honoring the elder’s dignity, privacy, and autonomy. Companions offer brief reflections meant to bring peace of mind, connection, and reassurance, rather than detail or analysis.

Maine Bridge to Home does not replace family connection.

It strengthens it—by helping loved ones remain part of the elder’s unfolding story, no matter how far away they may be.

The bridge is not information.
The bridge is relationship.
The bridge is the heart.

Can I use Maine Bridge to Home without Maine Sunshine Companions?

Maine Bridge to Home is available only for elders already receiving companionship through Maine Sunshine Companions.

With written consent from the elder, a companion may share limited updates with approved loved ones—helping families feel informed, connected, and at ease.

This communication is non-clinical, non-diagnostic, and grounded in presence and observation, not assessment

Is this service helpful for me?

It may be right for you if:

  • You live far from an aging parent or loved one

  • You worry about how they’re really doing between visits

  • You want reassurance without intrusion

  • You value dignity, consent, and gentle communication

Bridge to Home exists to ease worry—not create oversight.

Connection doesn’t end at the front door.
Sometimes, it’s a bridge.
